	Ashland Vineyards and Winery, the area's first vineyard and winery, began over 18 years ago just two miles east of the City of Ashland. The climate and growing conditions in this most southerly and easterly area of the Rogue Valley are exactly the same as the Bordeaux region of France, making our 120-acre estate's south-facing organically farmed vineyards especially well suited for growing merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc. The estate vineyard is planted in over 10 different varietals, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Gris, Tempranillo, Syrah, Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Viognier, and several others. Ours is an organic environmental vineyard as we use no pesticides, and natural predators such as ladybugs and praying mantises reside naturally in the vineyard (Integrated Pest Management Farming). Making wine is our passion, and it demands the best of our craft, ourselves, and our grapes. After careful control of the vineyard to low tonnage, the grapes are picked at the peak of ripeness by hand in the cool of the morning. We produce two brands--Ashland Vineyards and our upscale SHAKESPEARE™ brand.
